In order to have not just a VG but a full backup (that is, security 100%):

Just in case that it might help, we have 3 identical Linux images for
different purposes (Real, Mirror and Test) running DB2 Databases that we DDR
from one system to another every day so that we can test any innovation in
the test environment prior to make it into Production. Only in case that you
could create a mirror copy (considering circumstances with the management
guys), IMHO that would be a great choice to work with a net under you "just
in case". (If it's not much too big you could DDR it into tape as well).

Just an idea.

Asunto: Re: Copying 3390-9 to 3390-3 Linux LVM under z/VM.

We don't have any mod 9 available in the z/VM pool, all were re-allocated
to the z/OS Adabas databases. We are trying to get more dasd, but approval
is very slow and painful and management does not want to spend any money
at all.

I just want to thank everyone for their response, You people provided me
with good ideas for now and the future.

My main concern is to have a backup copy of the volume groups for disaster
recovery purposes as soon as possible. Last weekend we almost had to do a
full z/VM and Linux recovery.

Thanks,

Would it not be much less trouble to change the backup volumes to 3390-9?
