David, I know I can get a 'loaner' of z/VM. But my z/VM skills are quite old, very rusty, and I was never a (z/)VM Sysprog, anyway. I'm a (z/)VSE Sysprog! I know, there are 'cookbooks' (I have them). And while I wouldn't mind a z/VM trial, I wouldn't want it to go away in a few months, and then not have anything running. I'd rather have it running, sans z/VM, and then add z/VM later.
As for running in an LPAR, one must make do with what one has available... Dave Dave Stuart Prin. Info. No, no z/VM, no IFL. (Maybe if I'm good, Santa will ...) Talk to your IBM people. z/VM loaners are easily available if you ask. > I am looking for any pointers, gotcha's I need to watch for, hints/tips, > etc. > > I did search the archives, but it seems that very few people are doing > what I am trying to do. Mostly because the economics of Linux in LPARs doesn't work very well. The virtualization component of z/VM is what makes it interesting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
