I wouldn't call them plans, per se, so much as an inclination. From looking through our feature request system, there was a request to get union _mounts_, as opposed to unionfs, included in SLES. We haven't had the people time for it, so far. Other companies apparently are dedicating a person to the effort, so it seems as though it should be surfacing at some point. There are other needs that will likely drive this effort as well. System z isn't the only platform that would benefit from it. The problem is going to be getting the code in good enough shape that the kernel community will even consider it. That requires a business case for spending the people time on it in place of something else. Requests from ISVs and customers can help define that business case. Emails to the list, or to me personally, aren't going to do it, so anyone who wants or needs this feature should contact Novell through official channels.
