Hi, I read somewhere it very slow to install via HMC, but I might remember 
wrong.
I also should go for SLES11 if I should install a new version.

Yeah, that would have made a difference in our recommendations.  :)

What this doesn't say is that you have to set up the z/VM FTP server to access 
the DVD.  Linux cannot access it directly for the install.  So, you'll still be 
doing a network install, of sorts.  If you do actually go that route, I would 
be really interested in hearing how long it takes to do a default install.  My 
understanding is that the I/O bandwidth of the DVD on a z10 is much improved 
over prior generations, but that isn't necessarily saying a lot.  I would like 
to get a feel of actual times from a real install.

Your other option is to use the SLES Starter System, available at 
http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=5E7FSKjNTqI~
A number of people have used it with good results.

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you're going with SLES10 SP2, and not 
SLES11?  Depending on what you're planning to do with your Linux guests, 
there's some really nice improvements in the newer version.
