There are very good reasons for having Linux run both ways.  Some of our 
customers do just that.  The key to anything like this, however, is knowing 
what's needed and planning.  Once the appropriate resources are available 
installing Linux in an LPAR is as much of a non-event as it is on z/VM.

When I was at EDS, we didn't make that mistake.  We picked what was best for 
the mainframe regardless of what was happening in the distributed world.
