And what happens when ... the baby boomers retire, and start taking
money out?

Hmmmmmmmmm

Stocks are being purchased as a commodity right now, in the same was
as tulip bulbs in Holland 3 centuries ago.... actual evaluation of
the economic performance of companies is not being taken into account
by most stock purchasers.... that, combined with mutual funds having
various rules by which the fund manager MUST abide (such as "This fund
will be 95% invested in securities AT ALL TIMES) means that money
is going into purchasing stocks, even when the rates of return are
dismal, merely on the promise that the trading price will continue to
climb.

But...30+:1 P:E ratios cannot be sustained forever.
That comes to 3% yield.

Prime rate is at 7%.

When enough baby-boomers stop blindly dumping money into the market
(like, when they retire), the dividends will look insanely small,
there will be a rush on bonds, and the stock market will collapse.

Have fun. I'll be overseas.

I'm putting money in, but I'm pulling out before the peak of
the baby-boomer population hits retirement age.

When they retire, the market will plummet.

Yes, I know. I would like to publically apologize to Mr. Mikesell. In
this case it was I who was completely clueless about the subject matter -
it had momentarily completely slipped my mind about the terminal server.
I actually tried to cancel the message when I realized my error, but
didn't work somehow apparently. I appreciate the calm responses from both
of you - you both deserved to be much more angry at me than you came off
as. I agree that I was very rude - even for advocacy.

I was completely wrong on this issue. I admit it. Again, I apologize for
hurling insults.

When would a machine not have full (but partial?) net access? Is this a
case of something behind a firewall, or something where just all of the
daemons are not turned on?

Yeah... they might have a couple of face cards, but the DOJ has all
of the trump cards:
        1. M$ internal memos
        2. Anti-competitive contracts with OEMs.
        3. 20 different STATE'S ATTORNEYS chomping at the bit
        4. Japanese already removed their hindquarters in court.

> if they settled out of court too early.
>
> It's a tough position to be in.

No...it's a goddamned STUPID position to be in.....why? Because it's
the result of their own BEHAVIOR

(By the way, I'm a libertarian. I believe in Free Markets...which is
why I oppose M$...because M$ has done EVERYTHING within their power
to PREVENT having to compete in a free market.

You know what I love seeing:
Walking into Best Buy, and seeing a whole length of shelf covered
with 5 different brands of Linux...on the shelf NEAREST to the
front door....and BeOS, too.

Walking into CompUSA, and seeing a whole shelflength devoted to Linux,
PLUS two end-displays on a heavily travelled main-aisleway.

Linux has lost their grip on two MAJOR retailers..and will never
regain it.

Heh, heh, heh.

The problem is, I didn't/don't have a bootable disk with e2fsck. Maybe
I should make one in the future, but in this case I didn't. Obviously I

While I do believe that it is extremely important, it is not a show
stopper for my work. I was using it more of an example of something
that Linux is deficient in, technically, rather than something which
affects me as a user.

H: Knackos...you're a retard.

A: The wise man is mocked by fools.

B: "Jeem" Dutton is a fool of the pathological liar sort.

C: Jet plays the fool and spews out nonsense as a method of
sidetracking discussions which are headed in a direction
   that she doesn't like.

D: Jet claims to have killfiled me.

E: Jet now follows me from newgroup to newsgroup
   ...despite (D) above.

F: Neither Jeem nor Jet are worthy of the time to compose a
   response until their behavior improves.

G: Unit_4's "Kook hunt" reminds me of "Jimmy Baker's" harangues against
adultery while concurrently committing adultery with Tammy Hahn.
