You would make even HIGHER profits if they migrated to Linux and
the money spent on NT were used for other purposes (such as...making
revenue-producing LOANS).

EVERY company with intelligent management treats their employees well.
Management which abuses their employees reaps the rewards...poor
productivity and high turn-over.

How do you know that what is written in any historical text is true?
Usually through coroboration of other historical materials.
The Bible is one of the most highly coroborated history texts in
existence.

>
>I've found most Christians either very hypocritical or just plain
>disillusioned and wrong.

I'm sorry that you've had that kind of experience with Christians.
And since it has been your experience, I can't say that you're wrong.
I can say that Christians are human and will make mistakes like
anyone else. Also, many can get a bit zealous and, thus, become
hypocritical. In such cases, I would hope that you wouldn't throw
out the baby with the bath water, as it were.

>
>Remember when Christians thought the earth was the center of the universe?
>Heh. Time after time, scientists prove Christians wrong again and again.

Well, _everyone_ thought that the earth was the center of the universe
until Galileo came along. Like I said, they were all just people making
a conclusion from observations, and I agree they were digging in their
heels based upon a misconception of the Bible. The Bible certainly does not
describe the earth as being the center of the universe. That was a human
invention and, I agree, erroneously in the name of religion.

Long before Christopher Columbus (or whoever :-)) the Bible in the
Psalms reverse to the "sphere of the earth".

Science is an act of identifying patterns in the observable universe
and comprehending other observations in terms of patterns from previous
observations. Names are given to things to help communicate this information.

Although I would agree that scientists have proved mass religous zealots
incorrect in some things, science also proves itself wrong as well over
time. Scientists abhore this type of change. They work very hard at
guarding their beliefs as much as the religious folk they criticize.
Scientific beliefs are based upon, as I said, observations of patterns
and drawing conclusions from that. Although our powers of observation
have increased multi-fold in the last few decades, there appears to be
no end to finding out there's so much more that is unknown or currently
unobservable. I have a high degree of respect for science with respect to
its ability to give us (a) observations and ability to see patterns
and explain phenomena, many times to our benefit, and (b) simply
revealing the beauty and structure of the universe. However, I think
many things go beyond science, and to make science effectively into a
religion is counterproductive.

>
>Religion sucks. All it does is gives man another reason to hate one
>another.

I define "religion" as man's messing up what God's will really is
and making it into his own system of laws. In that regard, I agree,
religion sucks. However, at least according to the Bible I've read
many times, there is nothing in there that says we're supposed to hate
one another. If people are hating one another in the name of "religion"
then that's man's invention of religion, not God's will.

Of course, scientists are a fine example of people who never hate
each other, always in harmonious agreement. :-)

That's the 'vernacular' definition.

Surenko's definition of materialism is the correct one.

ICQ # 3056642

H: "Having found not one single carbon monoxide leak on the entire
premises, it is my belief, and Willard concurs, that the reason
you folks feel listless and disoriented is simply because
    you are lazy, stupid people"

I: Loren Petrich's 2-week stubborn refusal to respond to the
challenge to describe even one philosophical difference
between himself and the communists demonstrates that, in fact,
Loren Petrich is a COMMUNIST ***hole

J: Other knee_jerk reactionaries: billh, david casey, redc1c4,
The retarded sisters: Raunchy (rauni) and Anencephielle (Enielle),
also known as old hags who've hit the wall....

A: The wise man is mocked by fools.

B: Jet Silverman plays the fool and spews out nonsense as a
method of sidetracking discussions which are headed in a
   direction that she doesn't like.

C: Jet Silverman claims to have killfiled me.

D: Jet Silverman now follows me from newgroup to newsgroup
   ...despite (C) above.

E: Jet is not worthy of the time to compose a response until
   her behavior improves.

F: Unit_4's "Kook hunt" reminds me of "Jimmy Baker's" harangues against
adultery while concurrently committing adultery with Tammy Hahn.

G: Knackos...you're a retard.
