My pppd has run OK for a while now, even though I've gotten the same error
message from the first day: ppp: frame with bad fcs, excess = e921, or on
another server, ppp: frame with bad fcs, excess = 38d5
Does not seem to matter. The other error message I get with one server is:
IPXCP: timeout sending Config-Requests.
So you problem may be not related to that error message, for whatever that
is worth. Good luck!

: Subject: help please ...diald / pppd setup

:
: Please, I wonder if anyone might offer any suggestions - not much hair
left
: !
:
: I have ( had) a working Linux RedHat 5.0 ( 2.0.32 kernel) using pppd (
: 2.3.3-4) and diald ( 0.16.4-1). This was working fine connecting to an
ISP
: on demand ( NTL). I'm now trying to change it over to use Demon Internet
-
: thought it would be quite simple !
:
: I think I've modified most everything I need to get ppp running - I still
: have to change sendmail etc, but it now won't connect up ppp and I now
have
: an error in my messages file I don't understand - perhaps someone might
: know where I should be looking.
:
: The errored lines say 'frame with bad fcs, excess = dd0d'
: ( not always the same excess figure).
:
: I'm even comparing the config files I can think are relevant to make them
: the same as 2 other systems that connect perfectly to Demon ???
:
: Murphys law is at work again here - this system runs e-mail for the boss
so
: the pressure is on and I'm away from Thursday !
:
: Thanks in advance and apologies if this is not a pure diald query.
