I'm running into some inconveniences when I want to connect to different
hosts using diald (not simultaneously). Perhaps the combined experience of
this list might be able to make some helpful suggestions.

I've set up diald in a pretty generic fashion and place a startup script in
/etc/rc.d/init.d etc etc

When my wife uses the computer everything is fine diald starts up and I
have it configured to dial our ISP. The diald.conf contains a line (forgive
me I can't remember the exact syntax) something like:

        connect "chat -v -f /etc/ppp/chat-persisp"
# connect "chat -v -f /etc/ppp/chat-geordi"

My /etc/options file contains among other things the following line:

        name wilsonf

This is my login on the two networks that I dial

Also my /etc/ppp/pap-secrets contains two lines like:

        wilsonf * @/etc/ppp/persisp-pw
# wilsonf * @/etc/ppp/worknet-pw

OK now the questions .....

As you can perhaps guess if I want diald to be configured to dial my
personal ISP I change the lines that are commented out in /etc/diald.conf
and /etc/ppp/pap-secrets. BUT what I would like is a better way to do this.

At the very least I would to be able to have both password lines in
pap-secrets and have the PC determine which line to use. Yes it seems that
this is a PAP question rather than diald but It does arise as a result of
my use of diald.

So .... make sense ? ... any suggestions, advice, comments, flames, money,
....

Thanks,

Wilson
