What are you using as the connection to the SanDisk? PCMCIA?  If it is PCMCIA have you 
verified PCMCIA is working correctly?  If on IDE then put it on secondary controller 
and see if that works.

There are several companies selling IDE->CF adapter boards that may work for you.  We 
have an in-house developed adapter board that we plug the CF into and then into the 
primary or secondary IDE controller on PC platform.  We have two methods for getting 
image on the CF.  One involves dd (on PC's secondary controller) and the other is from 
a net/nfs install right on the embedded platform.
