True. It's there only because of CRM. It still however depends on
ha.cf and logd.cf. It could be useful with v1 too, but right now
it probably depends on both. There'll have to be some code
changes to support the new layout.

Another one might be implemented in python too. I'd suggest
keeping it as gui. Once another one comes along, and if ever ...
perhaps the author would be creative enough to think of a
completely different name. Also, everybody's already referring to
this one as the GUI.
