Hey Richard,
I was in the same boat not long ago. There is nothing in the DOCS that
says you don't have to patch 2.0.35 to use ax25-utils-2.1.42a, but you
don't. I sent an email to Terry Dawson, VK2KTJ who maintains the utils and
he told me this. In any case, all you have to do is compile ax25 stuff into
the kernel, and follow the directions in the ax25-utils-2.1.42a INSTALL and
skip the part on patching the kernel. Everything else works fine. If you
have an older version of ax25-utils already installed in your Linux
distribution, the you may have a man page problem. I my case, the man pages
in /usr/local/man/1 preceded the news ones and I had to delete the old ones
top get the new ones to come up without specifying a section.
