Karl,
While we are on the topic of proprietary software, remember the big flap in
the 80's with a company called SOFTWARE-2000, and their proprietary network
node firmware called NETROM (C) ? When Nord><Link came along and wrote
something with all of the atrributes of NETROM, but better, Software-2000
screamed bloody murder.

It was never proven that Nord><Link ripped them off. There was no way to prove
it....... I was so happy to see the first public release of TheNet, v1.0, by
Nord><Link.... I feel that I was ripped off by the software company from
which I purchased several eproms containing their proprietary NETROM code. It
was overpriced, and never worked well. I have been a staunch user of TheNet
and other NON-proprietary codes for a number of years and marvel at how they
survive, and grow... and how well it works.... The NON-proprietary TheNet+
code has been the status-quo since Software-2000 threw in the towel, and I am
glad for it. What do you think?
