APRServe is the central server for APRS on the internet. WA4DSY's aprsd
is a clone of the functionality of my program (which runs on a Mac)
lacking only the map.aprs.net dynamic web page generation. It accepts
data from dozens or hundreds of connections, removes the dups, fixes a
few packets that need it, and then sends it out to the hundreds of
clients that are connected. Think of it like a very specialized chat
server. It also has the Internet Gateway, or IGate, function which reads
data from a TNC, adding it to the internet stream, and watching for
messages to users local to the IGate, forwarding them onto RF if
appropriate.

There are links on my web pages for more info.

On my web site, start with http://www.aprs.net/vm/

Yes, it works fine under Linux/Netscape.

It has nothing to do with X Windows. It is a data server application, not
unlike APRServe, but it serves data in XML format, and has the ability
to answer advanced queries.

So, write a version that runs under Linux!
