I'm a majordomo person myself.. However, I'm sure majordomo isn't the
only list software that offers queueing on remote servers. Basically, for
each of my mailing lists, the config file tells majordomo which SMTP server
to use as the outgoing host for this list. That way if five messages come
in for 5 different lists, majordomo is only creating five SMTP connects and
telling the server who the recips are, and let that server do the endpoint
connections.
    When I simply began using the "DShost@domain" feature of sendmail, my
mailing list went from 5 minute delivery to less than 30 seconds delivery.
There are options out there... Just ask!!!
