The last post I made took 24hrs to come back to me. I think sometimes it
takes longer to turn around.

I subscribe to another email list at a local university and get echoed
replies back from that list within the hour.

Maybe the server at vger.rutgers.edu is just so busy with other lists
more important to them.

I went back and looked the the delivery intervals for some of the
messages on this list. Looking at random messages, there is a wide
variation in the delivery times. Times vary from a few minutes to days. I
looked at a few people individually and saw that their delivery times
varied widely also. It does not appear to be related to a server getting
kicked off at a particular time so. Delivery times on an individual day
did not seem to correlate to a human reviewing the mail either so it has
got me.. I think it would be worth getting it fixed or at the least
finding out why..

I suspect it is a distributed problem resulting from numerous mail
servers and varying forwarding times, I guess a good analogy would be
going to work on a long straight road with about 10 out of sync stop
lights. Some days you can fly right through. Other days you get caught at
every one of them A little tweaking in the right place could work
wonders.
