Hi Hamish, the problem is I don't know how kerneld works either.
But it or kmod is critical to Red Hat 5.2 and 6 working. I have converted
5.2 to using /etc/rc.d/rc.modules, which RH calls backward capability, and
that lets me load EXACTLY what I want. I can READ rc.modules and SEE it.
But Red Hat is being developed for users that don't even care
about modules. Users use the system and complain when it stops working.
Nothing is fixed any more by the user.
