I finally got hold of one and only distribution for hams after hours of download on a slow server, it's "MINI LINUX FOR HAMS" by SP2ONG Waldemar Ogonowski, looks like a very good one and requires only 12mb on FAT16/32 for complete installation, but unfortunately everything from configuration files to docs are in polish, could some one point me to a online polish--->english translator
The Distribution is based on kernel 2.0.35 with AX.25 support 2.1.41a.
You could make a one floppy linux system for a digipeater or APRS repeaterIt would be a real usefully if we can come up with a similar project like LRP (Linux Router Project, http://www.linuxrouter.org/) on a single floppy or a mini distro like the above with some good latest english documentation probably call it LHP(Linux Ham Project) or even take the existing MiniLinux for Hams and improve on it to add
probably. I suspect it could be done. I have a fairly comprehensive
bootdisk running libc5 tools with lots of TCP/IP (for ethernet) stuff,
which could probably be modified with all the ax25 utils put on.
- Kernel 2.2.x (2.3.x)
- TCP/IP, SLIP, PLIP, Net/ROM, AX.25 and ROSE
- KISS TNC,YAM,Baycom,EPPFLEX,soundmodem support
- New HOW-TO's for Ham Radio, AX25, Networking
- Latest Documentation for new AX utils
- Light X support
- Sample Configuration for all modes & modems
- GUI interfaces for Commmand line utils(like for call/node/etc)
and running on UMSDOS, so that new commers to digital and also migrants
from DOS based programs can shiftily adapted Linux as their OS and save
a huge amounts of time figuring out to use linux, and then figure out how
to configure the system with help of those old HOW-TO's.

So how about starting something like this to make life easier for new hams to be on packet with Linux insted of fighting over if Red Hat is superior than Debian or vice versa
