This is possably one if not the whole problem, i presume you have a custom
compiled kernel. ????

Check /usr/src/linux/.config for PARPORT and PLIP.

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378,0x278 irq=7,auto

Did you look at my home page and the plip.htm page ????
It states what to do.

Also what does 'cat /proc/interrupts' say about IRQ 7.????
