I have a HP 694C and it works awesome in the shell. I won't know about x
until I get the correct drivers for my video card.

I've used a Diamond Stealth 128 something or other that was
an S3 Trio64+; worked great (but not as cool as my new Matrox

I ran into a problem a while back with a mouse that has a PS/2 connector and
an adapter for the serial port. That might be the problem. Once I up on a
normal serial mouse I was all set. With the old one in the shell I would move
the mouse and the cursor was on one side of the screen only and wanted to
highlight everything. X crashed when I used it on my old computer, and gpm
would stall during shutdown. kinda weird I thought. If this what you have you
may want to change it.

Hello,
I recently started linux with slackware 3.6 on a pentium system. The
installation went smooth and everything. However, I have a problem with my
Network card (a 3Com 3c509 Combo card) which seems to be set to talk only on
the BNC connection. However, my network is using RJ45. I went to
www.linux-howto.com but the webpage doesn't deal with my specific problem.
Is there anyone having or that had the same problem as I do? What step
should I do?
I forgot to mention that all my network setup is ready. Only the NIC
does not want to be on the 10Base-T mode but 10Base-2. Please reply to me
direclty if someone has the answer.

I am running an celeron 300A at 100 MHz bus clock in a board with BX
chip set. I changed only the jumper for clock, I did not change to
voltage settings. The system is running without problems since 2 months.
Due to a fixed clock multiplier of 5 the 333 have run to with 500 MHz
and this will not successful in most cases.

What's the best way to configure an OPTi 82C925 based sound card
under Linux? The Linux Hardware How-To says to use the Windows Sound
System driver and to initialize the card using isapnp. I am doing this,
HOWEVER, I can only control the DSP level (not the master output level
nor the CD audio level), and playback is typically unreliable--When I am
putting a heavy load on the CPU, I get a few seconds of normal audio and
then suddenly, there is very heavy clipping. Did I mis-configure
something, or is there a better solution (perhaps using the Sound
Blaster-compatible mode of my sound card)?

Hi,
I own a Nec PC in which is included an Intel AN430TX main board. Ths
main
board includes an ATI video card, but
this is not the one I use. I put another one in a PCI slot, and my
screen is
plugged on this one. I want to know how to
configure my X server for my screen to be detected.
Until this moment, I've tried with xf86config or Xconfigurator (I use
the
Redhat 5.1), and this two tools have detected
the video card that is integrated on my main board.
But I've noticied that SuperProbe detects the second card (the one I
use).
Is there a way to force xf86config or
Xconfigurator to detect my video card?? (I'm fed up with the message
"Fatal
Server error: No screen detected", due to
the detecting of the wrong video card).
My screen is a Nec MultiSync A700.
If you have a solution please mail me back at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks a lot.

Well, it seems that that printer of yours in not really PS2.0 compliant. I have
a DEClaser 1152 with officically licensed PS2.0 and that puppy works fine.
I would return it and get and Lexmark Optra E with PS2.0 option.
Good Luck

This 35mm SCSI film scanner is working fine under Linux-2.0.30/SANE-1.0
xscanimage but has a problem under scanimage, the command-line version.
I'm using the coolscan-0.3 backend by Didier Carlier.
At 2700 dpi resolution, the scan is completed but the scanner then hangs
- I have to cycle the scanners's power in order to continue using it.
I'd use xscanimage but it's so darn slooooooow with these 3500x2500x24
images (particularly processing the images with gimp - pnm tools are
much faster if you don't need interactivity).
At 1350 dpi and less, scanimage works just fine.
Does anyone have a fix for scanimage/coolscan? Alternatively, a hack
that would reset the scanner by software instead of cycling power? It
can't be doing the thing any good to cycle power after every scan!
Another problem - but easy to work around - is that the coolscan backend
flips the image left-right (yes, the negative is in the right way,
emulsion side down!). Easy to fix with pnmflip but does anyone have a
patch?
Cheers
Bob

Does it say "unable to open /dev/hda" ? If so, try booting with a DOS

Sorry about insisting on this subject, but I couldn't yet fix the problem.
Below is a quote from my previous posting. Since then, I also tried changing
the loading address of the BIOS, with no result. The card still works fine
in other OSes.
Excuse me for waisting your time, but I'd really like to get rid of the
"scsi: 0 hosts" doom, since both my cdrom and zip100 run off this card, and
I'm forced to run micro$haft stuff.
Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi - I'm posting this message because I need your help on a problem I
cannot figure out by myself: my SCSI AHA1542CF adapter, for a couple of
days, all of a sudden isn't recognized any more at boot by Linux
(Slackware 3.6, kernel 2.0.35). When I first put the card in my machine,
it wasn't recognized either, but at the suggestion of someone from this
newsgroup I changed its base address from 0x130 to 0x334, and this did
the trick. But now, a couple of months later, I got the same problem
once again. I tried all of the base addresses I could select from the
dip switches (0x130, 0x134, 0x230, 0x234, 0x330, 0x334), to no avail.
The card by itself works just fine, I can enter its bios, and is also OK
in windblows.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
