I just sprung for the Mylex dac960 hardware (pci) raid card.

its not cheap ($1k or so), but it beats the hell outta software raid.. and
you can boot from it (ie can be your only 'drive').

but don't run it on a K6 VIA mobo - under heavy load it hangs. under the BX
chipset it seems ok.

(its cool to remove a drive and see the failover in almost realtime,
automatically) ;-)

Hmm I saw this same script when I was installing an isa card
yesterday and it sent me to the manual screen and I just clicked
OK to the default manual setting and everything was fine. I think
(not sure) that by setting the dma etc manually it doesn't keep
looking for the PNP stuff that caused this problem.. Anyway I got
good sound now so maybe you should try it..

Dunno. Did you try reading the README file in /usr/doc/lilo* ?? It tells
how to do that. I've got my system set up with Windoze on /dev/hda, DOS
6.22 on /dev/hdb1, and Linux on a set of extended partitions on /dev/hdb
and can boot any of those OSes with lilo. Here's my lilo.conf:

boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
compact
timeout=200
image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.0.36-1
        label = rh52
        root = /dev/hdb6
        read-only
other=/dev/hda1
        label=w95
        table=/dev/hda
other=/dev/hdb1
        label=dos
        table=/dev/hdb
        map-drive = 0x80
        to = 0x81
        map-drive = 0x81
        to = 0x80

Can anyone help me with the answer to my problem (or where I can find the
answer ??). I am trying to run xwindows but whatever graphicscard I choose
it only results in a screen resolution of 320X200.
I am quite new to Linux...but I am enjoying it....

I use a Diamond Viper 550 Riva TNT

Thanks,

Ed.
