Hi!
I need jumpersetting for my old motherboard for 486.
I tried to contact with manufacturer, but there is no result...
And there is no such board in http://members.xoom.com/WEB_HQ/
Can anybody help me?
I think that is M921 by PCChips (but not exactly):
in BIOS I found manufacturer - Hsing Tech Enterprises CO, LTD (PCChips).

This is motherboard description:
not Flash AMIBIOS, BIOS ID: 41-P400-001437-00101111-101094-486AVIP-H
3 PCI, 4 ISA, 2 72-pin SIMM, chipset UM8881,UM8886, 2 COM, 1 LPT, 2 IDE

Please, reply to e-mail, I have no access to USENET.

Best regards, Max Loginov

I bought Actiontec External Call Waiting Modem 2 weeks ago. It's fully
support Redhat 6.0. You can buy it at around $130. Also, you can find more
help at http://www.actiontec.com/support/modems/cwefaq.html#installbe

Good Luck,

Actiontec call waiting modem works perfect under Red Hat Linux 6.0. You can
get one at around $130. More info is at

Subject: Ghostscript unrecoverable error...?
Date: Thu, 19 Aug 1999 09:38:32 +0200

I'm having trouble printing from Linux.

The printer: an HP DeskJet 520. I installed ghostscript at the same time
Linux (Redhat 5.2) was installed. The printer prints ASCII text nicely
(tried it in printtool), but if I open GhostView and print any .ps file,
I get the following error (printed by the printer):

Unrecoverable error: rangecheck in .putdeviceprops

(1488)op_array(486)0x817b0cc:E

The same thing happens if I try to print from any program that would use
GhostScript. So, does anybody know what this means? What can I do to
resolve the problem? Any other suggestions? I'd be thankful for any
help!

Thanks for all your suggestions...

After trying a couple of new fans and Sebastian's thought about only one cpu
being used I tried compiling a Linux kernel 9 times
(for x in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9; do make clean; make -j2;
done)

That killed it in no time at all. I then tried a brand new cpu running alone
with a different hard drive and memory. The computer still crashed, it did
not even get through a Red Hat install, so I think I'm left to thinking it's
the motherboard. I found an Intel dual Ppro board for $64 via
www.pricewatch.com . I'll pop that in and see if that solves it.

Thanks,

;-) Paul

The only problem people can have with floppies is to trust them. However,
trashing floppies altogether seems to me like cutting off your nose to spite
your face. They are a very useful medium for transferring small amounts of
data. I transfer data daily from the office to my home computer, and that,
for me, is the sole purpose of having floppies. I would certainly miss them
if I no longer had them. All you have to remember is not to use the floppy
as a storeage device, and to keep all data elsewhere if a floppy gives up
the ghost.

Cheers,
  Mike Dowling

You just need to dig a little deeper when configuring the new kernel.
If, for example, you are using menuconfig, checking OSS Sound Modules(or
something like that) brings up a list of many different sound cards. I
think that is what you were looking for.

The first place to look in such cases is the XFree86 Video card/server list
at http://www.xfree86.org/cardlist.html .

Here is an extract:

The XF86_SVGA server from XFree86 version 3.3.4 might offer slightly better
performance than earlier versions.

Just one question, why are you trying to configure the system wide
apsfilterrc? When you run the apsfilter SETUP you should be asked if the
printer is a color printer, if you answer yes then your printer should
print color. Go to /etc. and look at the printcap file, see which lp is
setup for color. On my computer lp4 is the letter color driver, I've
never had to edit the apsfilterrc file to be able to print in color.

Are you sure that the goshtscript on your computer is setup correctly to
print color?

I have an Olympus 340DL and an Epson 550 that both work with gphoto. The Epson
550 is an odd model and the Win version of the driver is NOT available for
download, because it was produced by another company and there are legal
issues... I gave up trying to call Epson and have the driver shipped. Gphoto
has no such limitations and configured itself for both cameras in all of 30
seconds. The software is better than either of the Win applications for either
of my cameras. Go linux!

Go to www.gnome.org for a complete list of the gnome software......

I agree, mostly because of Netscape. Every time I've tried to run
Netscape without at least some swap space Netscape starts to misbehave
until it dies.
