If you are intersted in overclocking and feel that you will need to
reach FSBs of 115Mhz and above, then yes, definetly go in for the PC133Mhz
128MB RAM. Otherwise, just stick with with the PC100.
Make sure you get one 'stick' of 128 MB though. THis may help to reduce
the possibilites that your cpu won't work at higher FSBs.
First, does your mobo support ECC? If it doesn't then, theres no point
in buying ECC RAM. Don't worry about the (SPD)Serial Presence Detect. In
this the mobo configures various aspects of the RAM on its own, by
detecting the specs of the RAM from a chip onbaord the RAM.
I am not sure about which company, but I have heard Siemens & Crucial
are good.

Cheers

Dear All

I am using RedHat 6.1 and just bought a LinkSys EtherFast 10/100
ethernet card
so I can hook my linux box with a linux DSL router.

This ethernet card uses tulip.o and each time when I tried
installing this module, I get this error:

 /lib.../tulip.o : init_module : Device or resource busy

Has anyone able to use this ethernet card and if so, which driver
and how did you make the driver to work?

Thanks a lot for any pointer.

I'm looking at a text called 'IBM Microcomputers' with a description of the
8259A PIC. It shows priorities by interrupt type as follows:

Divide overflow  <== highest
INT n instruction
INTO (interrupt on overflow)
NMI (nonmaskable interrupt)
External interrupt on INTR line
Single-step <== lowest

The priority within type seems to be programmable, via the use of a
'priority resolver' register. It says nothing about how the PC AT
implemented the priorities.

So, looking at the 'PCI System Architecture' book, it shows the priority
from highest to lowest starting at IRQ0 and going downward to IRQ7, as
indicated by the previous poster...

Hi guys~

I'm one of those linux beginners. I've just installed red hat 6.1 with
linux kernel 2.2.11 and Xfree86 3.3.4. The video card on my computer is
Savage 3D, but the problem is this card is considered as a just generic
VGA, so it runs really slow and the resolution is bad. Is there any way
for me to be able to have my linux know about my video card?

How did you try to setup the card? Did you use sndconfig? Did you get any
errors? Please give more detail.

I am getting the same problem also. Sndconfig gave me an error even though
I used the same setting as in Windows.

But did you try listening to MP3 with accounts other than root? I can
listen to MP3 with other accounts except root. Since I don't use the root
account often, it is still okay for me but I would like to hear an answer.

PS: Did you say you use IRQ1? You have your sound card on IRQ1?

Linux installation reading 4 gig as an 8 gig for some reason. I was able
to get around this with an unconditional format, but for some reason
Mandrake 7 is reading it as an 8 gig once again. If anyone knows how to
fix this issue please tell me. This is a Western Digital drive that has
had linux installed on it before. I never had this problem until I
downloaded an image of RedHat 6.1.

Thanks,

then why dont u know what an udma66 controller is? The driver isn't
built into linux but you can patch your kernel to get teh driver and you
can also pass the settings for the udma66 contorller at the boot prompt
to get linux to see it

then mount the mitsumi by hand using the mount command, if it works put
the settings into your /etc/fstab so it mounts automatically on boot
