I don't know why, but I had a PS/2 port available, and for some reason Linux
was only happy with a PS/2 mouse. NO compatible serial mouse worked on my
system, only PS/2 mice. If you have a PS/2 port, try a PS/2 equivalent of
your mouse.

I've got an ATI Rage Fury (32M RAM), it uses the same chipset as the
All in wonder 128 (rage fury). I upgraded X-Windows to the latest
release and lo-and-behold it had drivers, that actually worked!!! It
took some doing, but I finally got it to work, unfortunately I've
forgotten how. You might wish to check out Linux-Mandrake's site, or
the XFree site, I believe the XFree site has instructions.

Good Luck!!

Subject: Need help configuring my ethernet tulip cards
Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2000 05:30:10 GMT

hello everyone:
I am having trouble configuring my (2) Netgear FA-310TX 10/100 PCI
ethernet cards. I am running Red Hat Linux 6.1 on an IBM 166 MHz 32 ram. i
am relatively new to Linux as you can see. I looked at the ethernet-HOWTO
and much documentation, but that didnt help me. I know that i have to
configure modules to start aliases to a tulip driver or something like that.
what i am eventually trying to do is IP masquerade. Both cards are
physically installed and Linux detected something but it failed in eth1 or
something like that.
OK so heres my delemia-I dont know how to "edit" scripts such as etc/
sysconfig/network...so i dont know how to setup my cards. i have the tulip
script from Donald Becker(the latest one), but i dont know if i need to edit
it or what. how do i configure these 2 cards? what scripts do i edit and
how do i edit them? do i edit them in GNOME (X-windows) or the BASH shell
(or terminal)?? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP

Log in as root and type 'sndconfig'. It will play a couple of samples
and ask you if you heard them. Say yes, and it will rewrite conf.modules
for you. I did this and everything worked beautifully.

followup:

Just finished reinstalling RH 6.1 on this board.
Seems to work fine, however:

it does not know what kind of IDE chipset is on the board, but
everything seems to work just as it did on the Asus P2B board.
Hopefully the 2.4 kernel will fix this minor problem. :)

Now for Xfree 4.0... <g>

Thank U very much, you help me quite a lot.

I run the sndconfig and now the sound card works, but the volume is toooooo
low, where can I adjust its volume like the Windows did? (I knew you hate
Windows very much)

BTW, will the hard disk size affect Linux performance? I assigned 1G for
Linux native and 78 M for swap, (I have 64M RAM)

if the hard disk size will affect the linux performance like Win95 did to
the OS, can I resize the partion to larger one? (change on the fly, I try to
use partition magic 3.05, but it seems can not resize Linux ext2 partition)
