Yes, it does. We have just received a 2100s and it comes with a CD with
source code (against 2.2.14 and 2.2.16) and precompiled kernel modules
(for Red Hat).
I didn't try it yet.
2100s actually is the evolution of DPT PM1564U3 and the driver is
nothing more then an updated revision (1.14) of dpt_i2o driver.

Yes, I too cannot find the driver on their web site.

The existing drivers and management utilities would be the DPT ones and
not the Adaptec ones.

Even if you only read from floppy, depending on the filesystem type,
the system may be trying to update access time entries.
Try mounting the floppy read-only.

After changing /etc/lilo.conf, have you re-run /sbin/lilo ? If not, do
so and then restart ...

With the kernel 2.2.x the append is no longer necesarry it asks the BioS
how much memory is in the system.
So my guess is that when you start the computer and it is testing memory
that you also only see 128MB right?

Im using Debian with Kernel 2.2.17 and ALSA 0.59.
The drivers/modules are loaded correctly, but my soundcard is not
recognized.
(cat /proc/asound/cards : -no soundcards-).
==> no sound.
Does anyone know a solution?

Thank all for the answers, BUT i don't understand.
Sorry.
Why I must mount floppy read-only?
Why I must see those messages ..... buffer_dirty....?
Can I do simple things without annoying messages ?
1. insert floppy
2. mount floppy
3. copy from floppy
4. umount floppy
5. remove floppy

I don't think there is a DLT IV _drive_, rather the tape cartridge is called
DLT IV, there are also older DLT III, etc. cartridges.
We have a DLT 7000 drive, which gets 70GB (compressed) on a DLT IV tape. The
newest DLT drive out last time I checked was the DLT 8000, which gets 80GB on
a DLT IV tape. Our drive is an HP model, but I think that all DLT drives have
their guts made by the same company (quantum?) and are effectively the same.
Our drive uses a fast wide interface, 20MB/sec. I think all DLT-7000s use
this interface. The DLT-8000 uses an ultra wide 40MB/sec IIRC.
I've had no problems using the drive in Linux. I did have a hell of time
getting the drive into the server's case. It's an extra long full height
drive, with very few mounting holes. The holes didn't line up, so I had to
use some metal clips and string and just hang the dang thing in case.

The EV1938 is not yet fully supported as far as I know.
It should work with the OSS drivers (30$ :-(), at least
they claim to have full support for EV1938 chipsets.

Did you install linux onto a drive on the RAID controller? I'm planning on
using a KT7-RAID with Redhat and was wondering if there's any way to install
straight onto a drive on the Highpoint or whether the install disk just
won't see it. Any thoughts?

Hello,
I think that 3c509 cards ahave problems due to BIOS which do half the
plug and play (assuming windows will do the rest).
You should (both ?) disable BIOS support for plug and play and find the
right Software on 3com site to disable the PnP function of your card.

Pierre

Hello d,
Two possible sources of problems:
- I/O space
- Interrupts
You can check interrupts with
cat /proc/interrupts
(do it with and without your modem / sound card).
For the I/O space, I do not know which command (if any) can display the
information
If you use KDE, simply have a look at the KDE center in 'information' (I
think).

Pierre

Man: I'm sorry this is not an answer to your question
but you are the first person I've run across that might
know about Dell servers running linux, (and I am
about to bet the farm myself). Do you use them
as nfs servers? Will a PowerEdge 2400 do a good job
as nfs server for about 30 other machines (linux/solaris
mix) which are themselves not terribly busy?
Thanks for any help and sorry I don't know about raid.

Has anyone tried using the Fujitsu/Siemens 'Scovery 211'
Linux terminal? Egghead.com has been auctioning these units
for less than $150 over the last several days.
The box looks rather interesting. It is basically a small
form-factor box that comes standard with 64MB SDRAM, 10/100 Ethernet,
a socket-7 CPU, built-in video, and Linux loaded in Flash memory.
Apparently, with the 4MB that comes standard with the box, the
system can boot either a small Linux kernal or run as a ICA-Client.
By adding more flash memory, or mounting a network drive, the
box could run X11 and Netscape.

OK, here's my setup:
I have a 20Gig hard-drive connected to an "Promise UltraATA 100"
controller card. I purchased this card so that I could get ATA 100
speeds in Win98. I have a 2 year old motherboard which didn't even
support ATA66. By win98 disk speed is very fast now.
This left just my DVD and CD-RW on the secondary IDE controller. The
primary IDE controller was now free.
So I put in an old 6GIG hard drive as a master on the primary IDE
controller. No prob.
I want Linux mandrake 7.1 on the 6gig. I have win98 on the 20gig. I
want dual boot. I have BootMagic, so I want to use this to dual-boot.
By the way I have to install it on the 6 gig ... Mandrake installer
cannot see the 20gig hard drive ... I guess because it's not a
_normal_ IDE drive ... it's plugged in through this Promise card.
Mandrake gives the error "No Windows Partition found" during install
when I try to install to the 20gig hard drive.
When I install linux on the 6 gig drive (no problem since it's an IDE
drive on the primary IDE which is considered /dev/hda in the
installation program), I cannot figure out how to configure LILO to
boot linux off the 6gig drive.
My system BIOS is configured to boot from the 20gig drive. I have
bootmagic installed on the boot-loader there. I can boot into win98
just fine. Having configured bootmagic to see the linux 6gig drive
after the linux install, I get just "LI" when I select "Linux" from
LILO.
It's not the 1024 cylinder limit .. I checked that. I know this
because I switched my system bios to boot the 6gig drive first (the
system goes right into "LILO:". This worked. My LILO config has
/dev/hda5 as the place to boot linux.
However, when I switch the system BIOS back to boot from the 20gig
drive, BootMagic comes up. When I select "Linux" I would expect it to
go try and boot from the 6gig drive, which is setup as /dev/hda5. But
again, I get just "LI".
The only way for me to boot linux is from a floppy. argh.
So my thoughts were that at system boot time with the 20gig drive
booting, that the 6gig drive MAY not be considered '/dev/hda5' anymore
since the system booted from the 20gig drive through the Promise
controller card. Maybe the system is confused.
And I can't use the 6gig drive as the system's first boot device. Why?
Well, it's because I don't know how to configure LILO to tell it where
the 20gig drive is. It's not mountable that I can see ... it's this
weird drive going through the Promise controller card.
I also tried putting these lines in my lilo.conf with no luck:
disk=/dev/hde
bios=0x80
disk=/dev/hda
bios=0x81
Anyone else had a similar problem? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi there.
MY problem with the SB 128 PCI is that I can't find any loadable module.
What I have done so far:
- Set PNP OS to DISABLED (BIOS)
- tried the sb, the es1370 and the es1371 module...without any
success...resource busy
I am not sure what kind of soundchip I really have, cause when I check
my PCI configs (lspci -n), my soundcard identifies as 1274:5880.
This doesn't fit with the module-doc-descriptions for the es1370 /
es1371.
The soundchip-inscription itself says:
CT5880-DCQ
0017HJE278
So, what a chip is this 5880?? Which module fits?
Thanks a lot
