I'm not familiar with your soundcard, but maybe you could enable them
with alsactl. However, I don't understand why they shouldn't be enabled
by default.

Can someone please send me their Xfree86_config (or whatever the config file

card, which is compatible with XFree86 v4.01? I have tried upgrading to

I'm having a problem with the same card.
Do you have a ES1373 chip too?
Occording to some, current drives work with ES1370 and ES1371, not with
the ES1373. Is this correct?
And if so, what should one do about it.

It shouldn't matter since the umount will flush the buffers.

But there's no reason for a buffer to be dirty after umount returns.

Hi,
Which Fast Ethernet Card should I buy right now:
* fully supported under Linux (kernel 2.2.16+)
* offering a very good performance
* well integrating into an existing 10/100 Network (with different Ethernet
and FastEthernet devices)
* being reliable (durable)
* no 3c* stuff, because their products are too expensive for what they
offer, IMHO

I'm using an ECRIX VXA scsi drive that I like. Transfer rate ~3 MB/s with
a adaptec 2930. Will store 33G/66G compressed. The price when they have
their promotion going is about $480 for an internal drive. Also, ECRIX's

#Shouldn't umount automatically sync before it exits?
In a properly designed file system, caches should be written out
to removable media as quickly as possible. If the user manages
to remove the media before everything is written, the system should
request the media be reinserted and then finish.
Otherwise the removal should be an automatic dismount.
Anything else is user unfriendly.

Is this one of the latest HP printers which are Win devices ?, does it say
anywhere on the manual that you need

Linux. Try a search on the web under that printers no.

Fibre Channel is a set of physical standards and protocol standards to
allow interconnection of computers and peripherals. You can think of it
as similar to SCSI. There are three physical interfaces:
Copper using DB-9 type connections
Copper (coax) using a USB-like connector
Fibre
Disks may have an integrated signal + power connector similar to
the SCSI SCA connector.
Fibre Channel can use the following topologies:
Point-to-point
Arbitrated Loop (device to device, via hubs or via switch "public loop"
ports)
Switched Fabric
Each of the physical interfaces has distance and speed limitations.
On top of this are carried the FCx protocols, which provide the basics
of carrying data, establishing and maintaining connections between devices.
Upper layer FCx protocols are defined for SCSI (FC4), IP, Hippi and Single
Byte Command (i.e. IBM style channel).

Hi Martin.
I use the same scanner under SuSE, without any problem.
First of all, you need to load the scsi module for the card.
I use the mini SCSI card that comes with the scanner,
so I use sym53c416.o module.
Then, you need sane package. Read the instructions,
since I do not remember everything...
I think you have to make /dev/scanner a link to one
of the 'generic' scsi devices (/dev/sg0...)
There is a config file for sane, where you select
the 'front end' for sane. sane supports many diferent
scanners (like TWAIN) exposing the same interface
for all.
Hope this help
