I think this is a better solution
edit /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf
there is an entry for X server, just pass xinerama or whatever option
to it.

Hello everybody,
"Deutsche Telekom" sells isdn-analog terminal adapters with built-in
isdn-card under the name 'eumex 504'. You may connect to it via an
usb-port (I don't have one on my computer), or by the use of the serial
line port (UART 16550). So I have to learn how to connect my linux-box
to this external terminal.
Is there anybody having some experience to this setup, or at least can
give me
hints where to find _explicit_ information how to handle isdn-terminals
via the serial line?
Thank you in advance
&
Best regards
Olli

Date: Tue, 20 Feb 2001 18:05:38 +0100
Hi,
I've got a IBM Turbo 16/4 TokenRing PC Card 2 in my Thinkpad 570.
I use SUSE Linux 7.0 with Kernel 2.2.16.
This card does not work, I tried a lot, but no chance...
Has anybody got an idea ?
In fact the cardmanager realizes the card but during booting I get a message
like
get dev info no such devive failed
Thanks for your help.
With best regards

Did you by any chance install automount ?
It nukes the direct hardware access.
Ie., your basic CD reading with xmms or other.
Actually, it only mounts the cdrom for itself, and monitors it. As audio CDs
are not a valid filesystem, it does nothing. But keeps the hadware, just in
case
a real CD appears.
A nice toy, but the price is a bit high.
Plus, I don't really see how you can have decent caching with automount.
Just drop it (automount).
Cheers.

Yes. However, it would also help to make it your primary slave.

Can you elaborate on the part about a problem with the 3c509 with 2.4.x? I'm using

Well, there should be a couple of things you can try to confirm ide-scsi
support.
First, look in the /lib/modules/<whatever-kernel> directories for an
ide-scsi.o module. If there's one there, its obviously not compiled into
the kernel and must be loaded, in which case it will show on an lsmod
command. Something like "find /lib/modules/* -name ide-scsi.o" should do
the trick.
Second, you should be able to find the file /proc/ide/drivers. This file
will list which drivers are in place, and if ide-scsi support is built
into the kernel(or as a module, and the module is loaded), it should show
there.
Third, you could try to find the .config file that was used to build the
kernel. IIRC, RedHat used to include it, but I can't remember where or if
it was renamed.
Lastly, build your own kernel. IMO, if you have enough
room for the compiler and devel-packages on your harddrive, building a
custom kernel is the only way to go anyhow. No guarantees though, Fisher
is BETA, so I suppose its possible that the support is broke.

No need. 10.0.0.0/24 (one Class A network) is reserved for
the same purposes as 192.168.0.0/16 (256 Class C networks)
as are 172.16.0.0/16 through 172.31.0.0/16 (16 Class B

I think it's the main XFree86 package, but I don't remember. Your
subsequent post seems to say this didn't work for you - I don't know
why, I'm quite sure it did for me.
I tried rebuilding from scratch as well, and it took some work but I
was eventually successful. That's what I'm running now. I ran into
the same Glide problems you refer to. My eventual solution was to
uninstall all Glide-related packages, and modify the XFree86 spec file
to not try to compile Glide stuff. The main thing was to change a
"YES" to a "NO" in a couple places where the spec file tells XFree86
what the configuration is. Rebuilding from scratch is a pain, as it
takes an hour or so and you pretty much have to start over from the
beginning if it fails.

Thanks Scott, Tim & Jim for your input. But two problems:
1) The workstations are ICL/Fujitsu workstations that are extremely
difficult to access the on board HD controller & indeed have no
additional PCI or ISA Slots (Everything is on the main board).
Compounding the issue is that the workstations are physically secured
into a counter. So to access the drives would be about 1Hr/ea not
including cloning time.
2) I am Habitually a lazy person :). Is there a way that I can make a
image of this PC. store it on a central location on the network,
create a boot disk and have the workstation clone its self from the
image. Or am really just too lazy :)

The IANA reports that 192/8 and 172/8 are assigned to "Various

I've booted with a rh cd and just did my work from the console
mounted /dev/sdb1 which has the lilo.conf file we were working with
checked the configuration for typos and all that good stuff.
It looks fine as far as I can tell.
so its saying that there is no /dev/sdb but I have a /dev/sdb partition mounted
just for kicks I've tried just running fdisk on /dev/sdb
it says no such file or directory
it also says the exact thing with /dev/sda
I haven't done alot of work with scsi so I'm not totally sure whats the deal here.

My sound card is a SB Live!
It can play music, but I guess the gameport is not initialized.
