Do not use the mouse in sax to select the mouse, first use the keybord
to select your mouse then enable your mouse with keybord of course, then
your problem is most likely fixed.

Where do you go to find CD-RWs that will work with Linux? ( Intel
Pentium II, 233 MHz, Redhat Linux 6.2. , Purpose: system backup &
recovery, soley. )
The local CompUSA & internet searches show reveal several reasonable
Windows-compatible choices, but none that I've seen claim that they will
will work with Linux.

Plextor and Yamaha models will work. I've only used SCSI but I understand
their IDE versions will work, too. You might check the hardware
compatibility list for RH.

Subject: Using cdrecord with ATAPI-drive
Date: 9 Apr 2001 16:57:28 GMT
I'm trying to write a cd using cdrecord. I'm using Debian 2.2 (with
kernel 2.2.18) and I've tried versions 1.8 and 1.10a18 of cdrecord.
The cd-writer, a Sony CRX145E-RP (ATAPI) which is supposed to be supported
by cdrecord, is detected by the scsi-emulation. Since I'm able to read from
the cd-writer I suppose that the hardware is ok. (I don't have Windows
installed, so I've been unable to test the drive using the supplied software)
I've tried cdrecord with different speed-settings, both in dummy and in
"real" mode, using different kinds of cd:s (cd-r 700, cd-r 650, cd-rw 650) and
I always end up with the same errors (see below).

Hello,
I have an old graphic card with the model:
NOKIA 9926572 (it looks like a dual-head ISA card).
It is not so easy to find information about this card.
There is nothing at www.nokia.com, very strange....
So does anybody know if there are some big databases over old hardware?
I have found a german one which contained detailed information about
harddiscs (I don't have the link right now ).
Sorry if this is too much OT, but I think that there might be other people
interested in finding these databases.
Thanks,
Gunnar.

Hi everybody,
I just happened to install XFree 4.0.3 (yeah, on a SuSE 7.0) since there
where lots of improvements for SiS driver announced at xfree86.org...
well, it's gotten really faster, I admit.... but now I have ugly color
efects, e.g. the bars of my kde-windows have strange colors, sometimes
strange rectangles are left halve filled with contents which belong
elsewhere....
..... this seems only to happen with certain fillments or movements of
bitmaps: e. g. the nice window-bars of kde2... plain color fills are ok.
and so are movements of these areas.
does anyone have hints? some fine XF86Config lines to tune the behavior?
thanks in advance,

Hi,
my company just gave me an HP-Omnibook 6000 that I am using with Linux now
however I have some hardware questionmarks:
- I have the minipci-lan/modem combination. The Lancard works but I can't seem
to get the Modem running. lspci calls it a 3com network component. Anybody
has an idea what I have to configure into a vanilla 2.4.3-Kernel to get this
up?
- I have the Ati Rage Mobility running XF4.0.1 is there a way that it can do
HW-Rendering for 3d?
- The bios lets me activate an Irda-Device, Linux sees a 2nd Serial device, but
I can't see the IRDA-LED on the machine anywhere. Is there one (I know this
is kind of OT)
- It has a MATISHTA-DVD-Rom. I tried xine-0.4.0-1 with the css-plugin on a
dvd that work in another machine I have. But all I get is read errors. Is
there a "do this" I should need to know to get this to work?

I hope this isn't off topic here, but my ISPs news server doesn't carry the
3dfx.glide.linux group anymore for some reason. So can someone please help.
How do I get games like UT and others like it to work with my voodoo3???.
This is what I have and what I have installed so far.
I have a PIII 800, with Intel 815 Chipset, 128mb PC133 DIMM, Maxtor 30gb
ATA100 hard drive, a SoundBlaster Live! and a Voodoo3 AGP (16mb) card.
Fresh from scratch, I have installed, RedHat 7.
I downloaded the following drivers.
Device3Dfx-2.3-5.src.rpm
Glide-V3-2.60-16.i386.rpm
Glide-SDK-2.2-16.i386.rpm
After rebuilding the Device3Dfx.src.rpm (rpm --rebuild etc.) and rpm -Uvh
as instructed, I did the same with the Glide-V3 and SDK. ALL went well.
After restarting my system, I was unable to perform the test3dfx, glide2x or
glide3x in the glide/bin directory.
Also I installed UTdemo, which is glide ONLY. It gets to the main screen(
where you can set preferences, get into the game, etc. but when you actually
start a practice session or what ever, the screen turns into this really
scrambled background of my X background. The only way out is
alt,ctrl,backspace.
I have another system with 2 voodoo2's. I've installed the Voodoo2 drivers
(same exact method, just voodoo2 drivers) and the tests work fine and the
UTdemo runs great. So what's the deal???? I really wanted this to run on
My system with the voodoo3. Not my 2nd system.
Do I have to do anything with the tdfx files or the Glide-V3-DRI file? I
have Redhat 7 with xf86 4.0.1. I assumed that it came already rolling with
the tdfx-dr? and the V3-dri.
Can someone HELP PLEASE.

So you're saying that any P3 CPU manufactured after the introduction
of the P3-933 will operate reliably at that speed?
I was under the impression that the variance in clock speeds was due
to differing quality in the materials used. And that some ludicrous
figure like 75% of all chips designed for, say, 1GHz fail reliability
tests at that speed, but work just fine at lower speeds.

Yes, sure. But a CPU is far more likely to operate correctly at its
rated speed than at a faster one. And the tendency of CPUs to
demonstrate erratic glitches when hot makes thorough testing of an
overclocked box difficult to manage.
I don't really object to any of what you've said, but I think you're
giving the impression that overclocking is easy and largely
risk-free. Which may be true in some cases, but is certainly not in
others.

The best way to fix it is not to use M$ fdisk. If you want to move partitions
around, use Partition Magic. If you are worried about losing data, use Linux's
fdisk.
