All these suggestions amount to only one thing - more work. We've already
spent an extraordinary amount of time on this project in the last month
and I'm trying to to spend that time on the directions that I see as the
most productive and that will best allow others to help with this project.

I am not planning on creating an interface between hspell and 17 languages,
15 libraries and 73 editors, but I'd be happy if 100 other people do these
things. When the linguistic aspects of the Hspell project are more complete
(say, after version 0.3) I plan to write an efficient (low disk use and
quick) C-library implementation of the spell checker (what hspell.pl does
now) that other projects could use - but will *still* not do the integration
into these 17 languages, 15 libraries and 73 editors myself. Just like the
ispell writers did not write its interface into the zillion Linux programs
that currently use it.

Yes, I did notice his work. But he does not publish anywhere where he got
his word lists (and what are their copyright status). Probes sent to him
about this issue were not clearly replied to so we gave up; maybe if you
know him you can get clearer responses.

Also, Erel's word lists and code appear to be working with ktiv chaser (but
still without niqqud), and we needed ktiv male (the standard which is usually
used today); Making the "translation" from chaser to male automatically is
practically impossible.

We didn't get to making that decision yet - it doesn't really matter at this
stage...

Perl module? Why not a python module, TCL module, PHP module, Fortran
subroutine, Haskel function, etc.? :) See what I wrote about about our
limited time. If anybody wants to write a perl module - you have the hspell.pl
code, and you can feel free to modify it to your liking (if you keep the
results GPL too) - it should actually be fairly trivial. If you look at
hspell.pl you'll see how simple it is (all of the brains are in the inflection
programs "wolig.pl" and "woo").
