becomes an issue with your distribution providing the proper tools to do the job - and there are... Other distros have their own tools for easily modifying the X configuration.
this would be a KDE (or Gnome or whatever desktop manager you use)
tool and not a distribution tool.
I think URPMI is good enough for my needs, and Mandrake's graphical interface for urpmi (rpmdrake) beats synoptic in ease of use every time, but you are entitled to your opinion.I've used Mandrake in the past, and while their configuration tools are the best, I'd hate going back to an RPM based distribution. Ever since moving to apt-get + Synaptic I'm in heaven :-) Do you (or anyone else) have a suggestion for a good .deb based distribution which is not "sucky"?
For a modern linux distro which uses apt for configuration managment I'd recommend either Xandros OS which is terrific even if a bit on the commercial side, or Yoper which I haven't tried myself but read raving reviews on and apparently it supports both RPM and DEB packages out of the box (a big plus for the DEB oriented guy as most of today's commercial software for linux only comes in RPM format).
