[LIH] Linux on Notebook computer

Hi all,

one of my friend wants to install the linux on compaq armada e500 laptop
computer.
Is it possible? and is there will be any problems?
BTW, Any body is here on this list,  uses/works on linux fromn his/office's
laptop.
