I hope you will get pretty of material if you search as 'linux on
laptops' on google(www.google.com).
Incidentally there is an article on todays linuxtoday.com about peoples
experience of linux on laptop.
As far as I remember there is a separate HOWTO maintained for each model
of laptop(Yes though unbelievable!!) from various people. I have not tried
either of them as I don't have a laptop. Try searching 'laptop-HOWTO' on
google.
