Assuming you are using automount or something.  Or else,

# mount /dev/hda3 /mnt/hdtemp
# man ls > /mnt/hdtemp/manpages/ls.man (say)

Use wingroff rather than pfe ... I think even wordpad will do for this if
you don't mind loss of formating.
