Hello EveryBody,
Hey Guys, enough has been argued about the Hardware
Performance shit. Now let me add a few lines from my
side too.
I used to have a Pentium-200MMX/ I430VX MOBO/ 64Mb/
S3-Virge-4MB/ 4.3GB previously and as You may guess
the RHL 6.1 Flied on it. Going in to the detail as
Noticed (roughly) by me,
=>LILO to GUI Login Prompt Time appx.=20-25 Seconds
=>GUI Login to GNOME LOADING Time appx.=10 Seconds
Now I have a Killer Hardware Combination AMD ATHLON
600MHZ/ FREESTAR MOBO/ 128MB PC100/ MATROX G-400 -
16MB/ Seagate 12GB. And the Performance,
=>LILO to GUI Login Prompt Time appx.=Less Than 10
Seconds
=>GUI Login to GNOME LOADING Time appx.=Less Than 5
Seconds
But I hardly noticed any difference other than that
mentioned above.
So the Summary of the Story is=> If you are rather
interested in Playing Sci-Fi games then better use
Windows where even a few MHZ or MB,s of Hardware
difference is instantly visible. The PENGUIN is happy
on a 486 even in the time of 1.5 GHZ CPU but atleast
200 MHZ is a Must; I Guess ;-)
I feel that there has been no difference in the
working of RHL on my system maybe because I am still
unable to kick-start Q3 on my system :-( even after
zillion attempts, I could not get the ".dat"/VCD
player running or more importantly I Work only in
SHELL Programming, Spreadsheets or Wordprocessor.
We are already heading a time of saturation where CPU
Speed has surpassed the Software Quality i.e. We
really dont have any "GOOD" software which demand (or
deserve) more than 350 MHZ CPU Speed at the
Maximum(Except for Games). May be It is high time we
start looking back into writing "GOOD CODES" rather
than Worrying about the system on which it will be
compiled.
***** IT IS ACTUALLY THE JOY OF A GREAT RIDE WHICH
MATTERS RATHER THAN THE PRIDE OF OWING A FORMULA 1 ;
WHICH ALTHOUGH IS A CONCORDE ON THE ROAD BUT
PRACTICALLY GOOD FOR NOTHING *****
