Hi all

I am stuck with couple of silly questions. Please help..

1)'ls -R' does not list recursively.
Consider this..
[shridhar@neptune shridhar]$ cd Gold
[shridhar@neptune Gold]$ ls -al
total 23
drwxrwxr-x 4 shridhar shridhar 1024 Jun 12 12:04 .
drwx------ 5 shridhar shridhar 1024 Jun 8 10:44 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 shridhar shridhar 19456 Jun 12 12:03 cbls
drwxr-xr-x 24 shridhar shridhar 1024 Jun 12 12:24 others
[shridhar@neptune Gold]$ ls -R *.cbl
ls: *.cbl: No such file or directory
[shridhar@neptune Gold]$

Where actually cbls directory contains tons of .cbl files.

2)On my RHL6.1 and recently upgraded RHL6.2, userhelper authorisation does
not work. If I run kppp as any user other than root, it cribs after
getting root password as 'not allowed to write to directory' or I get an
error 'can not make connection with X server on 0:0' These two errord
together does not make any sense to me.

As an alternative, I would like to know how to use wvdial with chap
authentication(of eth). That will be the real goodie. Then I will abandon
kppp. Right now I have to run kppp as root. I am scared to do so...

3)This is actually a suggestion. Is it possible that when I make a post to
LI list, instead of getting the mail back to me, I get a one line
confirmation, which I can delet using the filter. It does not make any
sense to me to read my own mails, and I really can not filter them...

That's all for the time being...

 Bye
  Shridhar
