No kala, I came up with the "merging primary partitions" as an analogy to
the extended partition problem...

Once again I beg to differ here, I think the numbering would follow a rule
wherin the extended partition with a lower "primary partition number"
owuld get precedence here - I mean between hda3 and hda4, the logical
drives in hda3 would come first as hda5 etc and then the logical drives in
hda4 would take their numbers irrespective of the order in which we
create/modify them... anyways I intend to test this out in a few days and
I'll report with my findings then...

I dont think thats the case, anyways I'll let U know tomorrow when I have
a look at my machine's numbering system...

On the contrary, I think I'm a little more "enlightened" on the working of
this thing after we have "talked" on it...
