As for the information displayed here, I suppose that depends on the sysad
and can be changed to our hearts content.
The file "/proc/version" gives a good indication of the linux version etc.
Eventhough I have only tried it on RH, I feel this file is not like one of
the other (like "/etc/redhat-release") release specific files, but then
this info can as well be got from the "uname -a" command...

Linux version 2.2.6 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version
2.7.2.3) #1 Mon Aug 9 11:48:44 AKDT 1999
[narain@matrix /proc]$
