Hi Ashish,

You have not mentioned after putting which partition no. you got the
following error ?

I am assuming the partition as hda5.

Now put linux root=/dev/hda5 init=/dev/hda5 at the lilo prompt.
If it still gives error then try out

linux root=/dev/hda5 init=/dev/hdX where replace X with different partition
no.'s 1, 2 etc.
Since lilo cannot find init in your root partition it gives error. Similar
to root= you have to pass
init= at LILO prompt to tell lilo where init is located.
