Well there is another way but I have not been able to get it right due to
improper configuration on our main mail server.
In sendmail, you have an option to specify the machine to which mails for
invalid users are forwarded. So this can be the main mail server to which
all the mails go. But the problem is that sendmail would search for a
username similar to the local username here.
The problem with us is that we have mappings on the main mail server too
like user pop2545486 = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
User pop2545487 = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
So I guess the thing does not work in this situation. But if you have a
dedicated mail server then this thing would work.

Why do you have to duplicate this on all the servers?? You map only the
local users. like on delhi.example.com you make a mapping like
[EMAIL PROTECTED] = [EMAIL PROTECTED] and this local delhi server ONLY
accepts mails for delhi.example.com and NOT for example.com so all the mails
meant for [EMAIL PROTECTED] etc. would automatically be sent through the
relay.
Am I wrong in this anywhere??

Obv. We actually have a hosting account , I mentioned previously, with lots
of individual pop3 accounts for all the local users....We download the mails
for each pop3 account and map them to the local users. But now thwe problem
is that if a new office is opened how do we configure our local server here
to send mails to the other people in the other office.
So all this R & D is for that.

Then what do you suggest for filtering virus kinda things on the mail server
itself?
