yes, there does exist a file with conf.modules in /etc with the lines

alias sound snd-card-intel8x0 
post-install snd-card-intel8x0 modprobe snd-pcm-oss 

what changes do i make here for using the new driver. and say how do i
know whether i am using the new drivers and not the old ones.

is there any other place where i need to put some change for mandrake.
