[LIH] alsa under Mandrake7.1

hi everyone,
 i am trying to setup alsa for i810 under mandrake. Mandrake doesnt have
nay modules.conf file in /etc but does have a modules file with an entry
vfat in /etc
The intel8x0 is loaded by the kernel on boot up. Where do i make the
changes to install the new alsa drivers.
