Hi,
sometime after the release of rh6.2 by pcquest there was a post on this
issue. I seem to be replicating the results.

Going for a text based custom install, anaconda got stuck with an
exception during formatting of the partitions.

I was trying to install linux with all posible bangs & whistles within
1gb with some 400M for /home. So had to go back an forth fine tuning the
size of partitions and the selecting the rpms. It sure was a tough job,
especially controlling the temptation. Each time i got stuck with this
error. On lookin ie found it was giving such errors as " system error:
error partitioning drive /tmp bad file descriptor".

But by that time i had dropped the idea of keeping space seperately for
/tmp and removed it using diskdruid.

So what is possibly going on is anaconda does not update the changes
made to the partition table. So this time i planned hard and got everything
in one shot.....ie no reverting back to deselect and re-partition. It
worked just smooooth.
I looked up red hat's errata page, does'nt seem to be there. I got the
right content after quite a struggle so dont want to change it, but this
sure needs some investigation.
                                                 sreangsu
