Hello Everybody,
My name is Sunil Varghese from Ahmedabad and I am a linux lover. As
mentioned in PC -Quest magazine I tried to install linux on my system but
I failed.
The configuration of my computer is as follows.
1. 20 Gb HDD [ seagate]
2. 1.44 FDD [ Sony ]
3. 64 MB SD RAM
4. P-III Intel processor 500 M Hz
5. Intel 810 mother board
6. Philips Monitor [104E]
7. Logitech 3 button mouse
8. TVSE gold key board
9. D-Link Modem (Intenal)
I already have two operating system installed on my system.
1. Win 98
2. Win 2000
How I tried to install ?
The first 15 Gb of the memory is used by win 98 and 2000 . And both have
FAT 32 partition [win 2000 is not created on NTFS ] .
I have 4.5 Gb free space [ie. unused & unformatted space] .
So I created an 64 mb Linux swap and rest linux native partiton on the 4.5
Gb free space by using a Power Quest Partition Magic 4.0 pro .
I tried both options of booting linux
(1)mbr and
(2) boot thru the primay partition.
and also made a linux bootable disk to boot linux thru floopy but still
failed.
The installation is always successfull but after rebooting the system the
Lilo bootstrap is not seen , neither is there any option for linux.
The windows boots normally as usuall showing only two option
1. win 98
2. Win 2000 professional
What could be wrong and how should I correct it ?
Please do help
Waiting for a fast and positive reply.
Thank you
Sunil Varghese
