Hi List,
I am running kppp in root. Now I want to run it through my user accounts.
Here's what I did >>>
I changed the permissions for /usr/sbin/kppp
and made a link to it in my user directory.
But I want that the users shouldn't be able to fiddle around with the options of kppp.

How should I do it.
According to Redhat unleashed I gave the following command
# chmod 4711 /usr/bin/kppp

and edited the file "options" in etc/ppp/ and deleted the word lock from it.

Also i read some where that I should change my kppp file found in /etc/pam.d/kppp tp
read like this -
#%PAM-1.0
#auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_rootok.so
auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_permit.so
auth required /lib/security/pam_pwdb.so
session optional /lib/security/pam_xauth.so
account required /lib/security/pam_permit.so

Anyway still when I am logged into a user acc when I try and run kppp from the panel
or on the command line by giving the command
# kppp &
the dialer doesn't run. There is very little hdd activity and then nothing happens.

What is wrong and what should be done to correct the problem

TIA
sukrit
