No.  The .sig file is a pgp signature of the sendmail project maintainers - for
you to verify the integrity of the file (in case you download it from
somewhere).  As you downloaded it from sendmail.org it should be ok.

See the INSTALL file - dont go by ./configure, make, make install - run sh
Build install in each of the directories specified in the INSTALL file.  Also -
remember to _stop_ your existing sendmail.

Finally - each and every sendmail related item (even sendmail.cf) has moved to
/etc/mail - this is a change with effect from 8.10.x - so you have to replace
the sendmail.cf (there's a directory with sample sendmail.cf files).
