hi i'm having a slight problem using wvdial
after connecting to my isp i get the following report from ifconfig
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3924 Metric:1
          RX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0

ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
          inet addr:192.168.99.1 P-t-P:192.168.99.99
Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST DYNAMIC MTU:1500
Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:1 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:10

ppp1 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
          inet addr:203.197.179.53 P-t-P:202.54.84.68
Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1514 Metric:1
          RX packets:12 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:12 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:10
then i get the message that cannot replace default route

also on booting up the following message appears

starting pppd 192.168.99.1:192.168.99.99 /dev/modem 115200 modem crtscts

defaultroute -detach user rajesh@bgl ipcp-accept-local
ipcp-accept-remote
call wvdial demand idle 180 connect "/usr/bin/wvdial --chat "... PID=339
AA

my pc running suse 6.3 is not networked in any way and i am puzzled as
to what ifconfig tells about ppp0.normally i would have expected the
information on ppp1 to appear for ppp0.and only one ppp connection
should be shown seeing that i have only one modem.

i am using SuSEfirewall script and wvdial.dod script. everything was
working fine till recently.

thanks,
dayalan
