Hi list,
I tried hdparm yesterday,
before you do this check your current settings
hdparm /dev/hda
I changed the default 16 bit i/o to 32 bit which gave performence
boost, also enabled dma and incresed the read ahead cycles
these are things i tried
hdparm - c 1 /dev/hda
hdparm -d 1 /dev/hda
hdparm -a 1 /dev/hda
to test this hdparm - Tt /dev/hda
then to keep the sttings
hdparm -k 1 /dev/hda
but this holds good for only one session when i reboot all gets changed
to defualts.
I have put allthese things in rc.local but it does'nt get excuted why is
this?
but the m/c performence is much faster now
also please tell me whether i need reboot the m/c after changing the 16
bit i/o to 32 bit or will it take on line.
