That's what i have done /sbin/hdparm
but after the reboot the hdparm shows i/o as just 16 not 32 and rc.local is not 
excuteing
hdparm (does it require a sleep to be introduced ) or only after root login will it get
excuted?
I enabled dma it gives cache read 128 mb in 2.2 sec (i use segate old harddrive) .

I need to make the changes i made as default any idea where all htese parameters are
stored,i mean file some where.

but what ever the problems may be sure it improves the performence to almost dobble.
