Rajesh, please post the contents of your /etc/pam.d entry for pop3 (might
be using the same one as imap). And check if something was logged in
/var/log/messages. I think SuSE doesn't log authpriv.* anywhere except
to one of the VTs, but check /etc/syslog.conf and post the relevant
sections from those logs as well.
Most likely a PAM misconfiguration that it is using kerberos
authentication instead of the default /etc/shadow.
