Hi Rajesh,
        I have no idea how the upgradation went, but what I suspect is
that modules are not loaded correctly. Check if U have
/lin/modules/2.2.xx-yy/net/ppp.o file (substitute xx-yy with ur kernel
minor version numbers). If the file exists try loading the module
/sbin/modprobe ppp. Now see is U are able to use the kppp. If yes, then U
would need to update the /etc/conf.modules. else U need to install the
modules for the latest kernel that is upgraded..
